Le Tetre (The Hill) French House Project

'Le tetre' front viewWelcome to John and Colins French house project. We have purchased a house in Normandy in the town of Buais. This is in the heart of Calvados, famous for apple growing and Calvados wines and spirits.

The house is also about 30 mins drive from Mont-Saint-Michel, which is positioned on a rocky, cone-shaped islet in northwestern France, in the Gulf of Saint-Malo, connected by a causeway with the mainland. The islet, celebrated for its Benedictine abbey, has small houses and shops on its lowest level. Above these stand the monastic buildings, many of which date from the 13th century and are considered outstanding examples of Gothic architecture. The entire islet is crowned by the abbey church, about 73 m (about 240 ft) above sea level.

Thanks for dropping in and spending some time looking at our progress. In the near future you will be able to browse around our site and look at our photo gallery. The house is set in approximately six acres and about 1.5kms from the small French town of Buais. The house is set in a lovely area of country side on a hillside at the end of a country lane with no passing traffic apart from a few cows and the odd tractor.

We have approximately 6 acres of land set in 4 fields with fantastic views around the surrounding countryside.

The adjoining building which is also made of stone will require a complete rebuild, but luckily all of the stone is still there.

As you can see the house has a good roof apart from a few missing tiles.
